Seachem Flourite Black is a specially fractured, stable, and porous clay gravel designed for natural planted aquariums. Its appearance is ideal for planted tanks but can be used in any freshwater aquarium. It works best as a standalone substrate but can be mixed with other gravels. Seachem Flourite Black does not require additional gravel modifiers like laterite, and it is not chemically coated or treated, so it will not affect the water’s pH. This substrate lasts for the life of the aquarium and does not need to be replaced.
Set-Up
Although pre-washed, Flourite Black may become dusty during transit and should be rinsed before use to remove any residual dust. When filling the aquarium with water, do so slowly to avoid disturbing the substrate. Place a bowl in the aquarium and pour water directly into it, allowing the water to overflow gently onto the gravel bed. Initial cloudiness is normal. To clear the cloudiness, use mechanical filtration such as filter floss, and consider using Clarity™ to speed up the process.
